In the grunge storm raging through the underground music scene, the band always managed to calm the whirlwind with their innovative mix of rock, pop, shoegaze, metal, goth, psychedelic and electronic music. Frontman William Patrick Corgan (formerly known as Billy Corgan) and his band thus defined the sound of that distinctive period, alongside other big names such as Nirvana, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. The Pumpkins sold more than 30 million albums, won two Grammys and can boast about having written some of the biggest hits of the nineties: 'Tonight, Tonight', '1979', 'Disarm', ... The Americans have been very active again in recent years, their latest release being the impressive album 'Atum - A Rock Opera In Three Acts' (2023).
